Abstract

Hospitals generate a wide range of waste, such as solid, liquid and gaseous
waste. Poor medical waste management can cause problems for health and the
environment. Preliminary research shows that waste management in Level III
Bhayangkara Indramayu Hospital is still not optimal. This study used a quantitative
method with a cross-sectional approach. The subjects of this study were 99 medical
personnel who had responsibility for medical waste disposal in the outpatient
facility of Bhyangkara Indramayu Hospital.
The sampling method used was total sampling. The sample in this study
included all medical staff. The analysis conducted in this study was univariate and
bivariate analysis. The instrument for this variable was designed using tests and
questionnaires, while the dependent variable was measured by applying a Guttman
scale.
Based on hypothesis testing, a p-value = 0.001 significance < p = 0.05 was
obtained, which means that there is a relationship between the knowledge of health
workers and the actions of the medical waste management system at Bhayangkara
Hospital Level III Indramayu.
So it is expected that the knowledge of health workers about the actions of
the solid medical waste management system is further improved such as providing
training or health seminars to health workers so that later the actions of health
workers in solid medical waste management efforts are even better.
