Abstract

The incidence of diarrhea that occurred at the Larangan Health Center in 2022
reached 651 cases, then in 2023 it reached 692 cases and in 2024 it became 760 cases,
from these data it shows that the incidence of diarrhea is one of the cases that has not
been resolved. The use of latrine that comply with health standards is important, the
condition of the toilet building is one of the factors related to the incidence of diarrhea
that an uncovered toilet will be accessible to disease-causing vectors. This study aims to
determine the relationship between toilet use and the incidence of diarrhea in the
Larangan Health Center Area Work.
This research method uses quantitative research with a cross-sectional approach.
The instruments used are observation sheets and questionnaires. This research was
conducted in the working area of the Larangan Health Center with population is the
community registered at the Larangan Health Center who have had diarrhea in the last
three months size of 167 people. The sampling technique in this study used simple
random sampling with a sample size of 118 people. And using univariate and bivariate
analysis with the chi-square test.
The results of the study showed that 91 respondents (77.1%) did not use toilets that

met the requirements. From the results of statistical tests using the chi-square test, the p-
value was obtained = 0.023 <0.05). This means that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted,

indicating a significant relationship between the use of latrines and the incidence of
diarrhea in the Larangan Health Center Work Area.
The results of this study are expected to encourage environmental health programs
and provide education to the community regarding the importance of using latrines that
meet the requirements.
