Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is an infection transmitted through the bite of
the Aedes aegypti mosquito. Dengue fever is an environmentally related disease.
Poor residential sanitation can increase contact with Aedes aegypti mosquitoes and
potentially become breeding grounds for them. The purpose of this study was to
determine the relationship between residential sanitation and dengue fever
incidence in the Karangsari area of Cirebon Regency.
This research method used a quantitative cross-sectional approach. The instrument
used was a questionnaire. The population consisted of all 8,594 residents of
Karangsari village. The sampling technique used simple random sampling with a
sample size of 100 people.
The results showed that 88 (88.0%) of dengue cases had experienced dengue fever,
and 80 (80.0%) of residential sanitation were categorized as poor. The Chi-Square
test yielded a p-value of 0.002 (p<0.05). This means that H0 is rejected and Ha is
accepted, indicating a significant relationship between residential environmental
sanitation and the incidence of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in the
Karangsari village area of Cirebon Regency.
The results of this study are expected to encourage mosquito nest eradication
programs (PSN 3M Plus) and health education and outreach activities to the
community regarding the importance of residential environmental sanitation in
preventing DHF.
