Abstract
Light intensity is a physical quantity that measures the amount of light energy that comes per unit
time and surface area. Light intensity greatly affects fly activity because flies are very sensitive to
light intensity. Flies tend to be more active and easily provoked when the light intensity is high.
Flies or Musca domestica are insects that have the ability to live in various places, including around
dirty and smelly environments. Flies are often considered pests because of their presence which can
cause a wide variety of health problems. In his research, the author used a type of quantitative
research and used an observation design with a cross sectional approach. This study only focuses on
using the population of fly density objects in the observation room of the Midwifery IGD at
Arjawinangun Hospital. This study used research samples with a focus on flies found in the
observation room of the Obstetrics ER at Arjawinangun Hospital during the study. Based on table
4.1 above, it shows that 70% light intensity in the morning does not qualify. Based on table 4.3
above, it shows that the density of flies in the morning is 70% high. Based on table 4.5 above, it
shows that based on the results of static tests with chi square, the p-value of 0.008 alpha 0.05 which
means (Ha) accepted and (Hᴏ) rejected means that there is a relationship between light intensity and
fly density in the Midwifery Observation Room of Arjawinangun Hospital in the morning. There is
a relationship between light intensity and fly density in the Obstetrics Emergency Room of
Arjawinangun Hospital. Hopefully soon a solution will be made with the high density of flies which
is caused by the high intensity of light to install curtains on the window to reduce light entering from
outside.
