Abstract
Environmental sanitation is the health status of an environment which includes
housing, sewage disposal, provision of clean water and so on. Poor sanitation can cause
deiarrhea. Diarrhea is a defecation or defecation disorder characterized by by defecation
>3 times a day accompanied by a liquid stool consistency and maybe accompanied by
blood or mucus.
The type of research used in this research is a quantitative method with an
observational design. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between
environmental sanitation and the incidence of diarrhea in toddlers in the Pamitran
Health Center Working Area, Cirebon City. The population in this study was 334
toddlers. The sample in this study was calculated using the slovin for,ula amd taken using
a simple random sampling technique of 77 toddlers. The data analyisis use was
univariate analysis and bivariate analysis using the chi-square test.
based on the result of cross tabulation and statistical tests, data fro the 77
respondents studied show that respondents with environmental sanitation did not meet the
requirements, as many as 32 (56.1%) respondents with environmental sanitation met the
requirments and toddlers did not experience diarrhea, namely 16 (80.0%) respondents.
From the results of the chi-square statistical test, it was foud that the p-value was (0.040)
(<α(0.05)), so Howas rejectted or Ha was accepted, which means that there is a
relationship between environmental sanitation and the incidence of diarrhea in toddlers
in the Pamitran Community Health Center Working Area, Cirebon City, 2024.
