THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN KNOWLEDGE OF CLEANING SERVICE OFFICERS AND MEDICAL WASTE MANAGEMENT AT THE ARJAWINANGUN REGIONAL GENERAL HOSPITAL

Medical waste is the residue of health care facility activities in the form of liquid,
solid, or gas which is classified as Hazardous and Toxic Material (B3) whose
existence can damage the environment and have a negative impact on health.
Medical waste if not managed causes various adverse effects that can cause
various diseases. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship
between the knowledge of cleaning service officers with medical waste
management at the Arjawinangun Regional General Hospital.
This research method uses analytical survey research with a cross sectional
approach. The population used in this study were 37 cleaning service officers who
worked at the Arjawinangun Regional General Hospital. The sampling technique
used was total sampling. The instrument used was a questionnaire. The data
analysis used was univariate analysis and bivariate analysis.
The results showed that most of the knowledge of cleaning service officers at
Arjawinangun Regional General Hospital respondents who were categorized as
good were 21.6%, respondents who were categorized as sufficient were 27.0%,
and respondents who were categorized as less were 51.4%. Based on statistical
tests to determine the relationship between the two variables using Chi-Squere
with the results obtained a p-value of 0.002. So the conclusion of this study is that
there is a relationship between the Knowledge of Cleaning Service Officers with
Medi Waste Management. It is hoped that the research can encourage increased
knowledge and management of medical waste through regular training activities.
