Abstract
Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease that attacks the lungs caused by the bacterium
Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Tuberculosis (TB) in Indonesia ranks second after India,
with 969 thousand cases and 93 thousand deaths per year or the equivalent of 11 deaths
per hour. This study was conducted to analyze the relationship between self-efficacy and
behavior to prevent pulmonary tuberculosis transmission in the family. This type of
research is analytic observational using cross sectional method with the sampling
technique that is total sampling. The number of samples is 35 people. The measuring
instrument used in this study was a questionnaire in the form of questions about Self-
Efficacy as many as 25 statements and questions about behavior to prevent transmission
of pulmonary TB in closed form as many as 12 questions. Data analysis in this study was
univariate analysis and bivariate analysis using the Chi-Square test.
The results of the research ethics test were declared "Ethically Eligible" from KEPK ITEKes
Mahardika.
The research results showed that 23 people had high self-efficacy, of which 18 people
(78.3%) had good infection prevention behavior, and 5 people (21.7%) had poor
infection prevention behavior. Meanwhile, there were 12 people with low self-efficacy, of
whom 2 people (16.7%) had good prevention behavior, and 10 people (83.3%) had poor
prevention behavior. The results of statistical tests obtained a pvalue = 0.001 (p<α), so it
can be concluded that there is a relationship between self-efficacy and preventing
transmission of pulmonary TB in the family.
