Abstract

Needle stick injury is a category of injury that can often occur in the scope
of health and health workers and has serious consequences. The problem that arises
is that when medical personnel do not carry out these actions according to S.O.P,
there is a risk of stab wounds (Needle Stick Injury) among medical personnel
carrying out hospital activities. If nurses do not comply with the application of
S.O.P. injection/recapping techniques, it can cause needle stick accidents which
can result in the transmission of pathogenic infections which endanger nurses and
patients, so the role of the S.O.P program is very important to avoid work accidents.
The aim of this research is to determine whether there is a relationship between
compliance with S.O.P. recapping techniques and the incidence of needle sticks in
inpatient nurses.
The research design used in this research is a correlational descriptive
research design with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study were
all inpatient nurses 1, 2, 3, and 4 at Mitra Plumbon Indramayu Hospital in 2024
and the total sample studied was 36 respondents. The research instrument uses an
observation sheet. The research results were analyzed through univariate tests and
bivariate tests.
Almost all respondents had carried out the recapping
technique according to the applicable S.O.P, namely 32
nurses (88.8%), and only 4 nurses (11.2%) had not carried out
the recapping technique properly, causing 1 nurse to
experience a puncture incident. needle. Bivariate test
results with p value of 0.004 (≤0.05).The results of bivariate
analysis showed that there was a relationship between
compliance with S.O.P. recapping techniques and the
incidence of needle sticks in inpatient nurses.
It is recommended for nurses and hospitals to use the applicable S.O.P as a
guideline in carrying out every nursing care action, so that things like needle stick
incidents do not happen again in the future.PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT i
