Abstract
Mobilization is a major factor in accelerating recovery and can prevent
complications after laparotomy surgery. Providing education about the
importance of mobilization should be given to surgical patients, in order to
increase the patient's knowledge and ability to mobilize. Based on the results of a
preliminary study conducted by the author at Mitra Plumbon Majalengka
Hospital, most patients experience the problem of being afraid to move after
surgery, which has an impact on the length of the patient's healing and recovery
process. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the
provision of pain education and the mobility ability of post-laparotomy patients at
Mitra Plumbon Majalengka Hospital.
The research design used in this research is a correlational analytic research
design with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study was
postoperative laparotomy patients who were treated in the Inpatient Room of
Mitra Plumbon Majalengka Hospital, with a total sample of 68 patients. The
research instrument used a questionnaire based on the SOP. Data analysis was
carried out through univariate and bivariate analysis.
Nearly half of respondents received complete pain education in accordance
with the SOP as many as 32 respondents (47.1%). Most of the respondents have
good mobility abilities, namely as many as 35 respondents (51.5%). The results of
bivariate analysis with p value = 0.000.
There is a relationship between the provision of pain education and the
mobility ability of post-laparotomy patients. Hospitals and nurses are advised to
improve their skills in carrying out nursing care in postoperative laparotomy
patients.
