Abstract

Intravenous therapy is one of the most widely used therapies in health services. As
many as 70% of patients received intravenous fluid therapy. To improve patient
comfort and the quality of hospital services, nurses must comply with the SOP for
administering infusions. Initial research results showed that 40% of nurses
administering infusions did not comply with the SOP. This study aims to
determine the relationship between nurse characteristics and nurse compliance in
implementing IV drips at Cideres Regional Hospital, Majalengka Regency. This
research is a quantitative research with a descriptive correlation research design
with a cross sectional approach. Data was obtained by observing nurses when
installing IVs and was carried out on 146 nurses at Cideres Regional Hospital in
May 2024. The results of data analysis concluded that: a small percentage (13.75)
of nurses were disobedient when installing IVs at Cideres Regional Hospital in
2024, the majority (84.9%) ranged in age from 26 to 35 years, less than half
(32.2%) had a DIII Nursing education level, a small proportion (10.25%), 75)
had less than 5 years of work, and a small portion (3.4%) with level I (beginner).
Hypothesis testing uses bivariate analysis with chi square at a significance level
of 0.05, with results for all independent variables with a p value < 0.05. The
conclusion of this research is that there is a relationship between age, education
level, length of work and nurse competency level with nurse compliance in
implementing IV drips at Cideres Regional Hospital, Majalengka Regency.
