Data on the number of diabetes mellitus sufferers in Indonesia in 2021 is estimated at 19,465,100 people. The number of diabetes mellitus sufferers in West Java Province in 2020 was 1,078,857 people, and in Majalengka Hospital in 2022 will be 115. The impact of the wound care process being pain and one method to reduce pain is auditory simulation. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between auditory stimulation type and post-wound care pain on diabetes mellitus patient in Inpatient room 4 of Mitra Plumbon Majalengka Hospital.
This type of research uses quantitative research with a descriptive correlational research desingn with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study were patients with diabetes mellitus in Inpatient Room 4 of Mitra Plumbon Majalengka Hospital and the sampling techinique used total sampling method as many as 4o people. Data collection using observation sheets and Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) sheets. Data analysis was performed using univariate analysis with percentages and bivariate analysis with chi square (X2) test.
The results showed that most respondents (70%) received auditory guide imagery stimulation and most respondents (67.5%) experinced mild pain. The results of statistical test obtained p value = 0.000 < α (0.05) indicate that Ha is accepted, meaning that there is a correlation between auditory simulation type and post-wound care pain on diabetes mellitus patient in Inpatient Room 4 of Mitra Plumbon Majalengka Hospital.
Nurses can provide auditory stimulation intervention education to reduce the pain scale in diabetes mellitus wound care.
