Abstract

Data from the Directorate of Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases of the
Ministry of Health, the trend of ISPA cases in Indonesia in the period January to
September 2023 is quite high, namely in the range of 1.5-1.8 million cases
nationally. The three provinces with the highest incidence of ISPA cases are
Central Java, West Java and DKI Jakarta. Complaints include coughs and colds.
Therapy with lime and honey can be used to reduce complaints. This study aims to
analyze the effect of giving lime and honey therapy on non-pneumonic coughs in
children in Cempaka village, Cirebon district in 2024. The research method is a
research design, namely one group pretest posttest design. The population in this
study were all children seeking treatment with complaints of respiratory problems
in Cempaka Village, Cirebon Regency from October to December 2023, totaling
47 children. The sampling technique used total sampling to obtain 32 samples.
Univariate analysis uses frequency distribution and bivariate analysis uses the
Wilcoxon test. The results showed that before being given lime and honey, the
majority of coughs were ineffective as many as 20 respondents (62.5%) and after
being given lime and honey the majority of coughs were effective as many as 30
respondents (93.8%). The Wilcoxon test results obtained p-value = 0.000 (<0.05).
It was concluded that there was an effect of giving lime and honey on nonpneumonia coughs in children in Cempaka Village, Cirebon Regency in 2024.
Therefore, parents can give lime and honey when their children have coughs and
colds.
