Abstract

A patients safety incidents is any unintentional occurrence and condition that has the potential to result in preventable injury to a patient. Falls have many disturbances, use of certain medications, polypharmacy, enviromental hazards and certain medical conditions. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between nurse education and the incidence of patient falls at Mitra Plumbon Cirebon Hospital.
This type of research uses quantitative research with a descriptive correlational research design with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study were nurses at Mitra Plumbon Cirebon Hospital and the sampling technique used a purposive sampling method of 84 people. Retrieval of data using questionnaires and SPO fall risk assesment. Data analysis was performed using univariate analysis with percentages and bivariate analysisn with the chi square tes (X2).
The results showed that most of the respondents (78.6%) had good nurse educaton and most of the respondents (40.5%) were not a risk of falling. The results of the chi square statistical test (X2) obtained p value = 0.000 < (0.05) indicating that Ha is acccepted, meaning that there is a relationship between nurse education and the incidence of falling patients at Mitra Plumbon Cirebon Hospital.
It is expected that nurses can improve their ability to apply patient safety to prevent patients from falling by attending seminars or training.
