Abstract
Mental health is a universal problem faced by countries around the world.
Generation Z is a generation that is familiar with technology and the internet in everyday
life. Quarter life crisis is a phenomenon where someone feels dissatisfied with life, feels
trapped in a career or relationship, and feels that they have not achieved their life goals.
The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between quarter life crisis and
mental health in generation z aged 18 - 28 years on social media.
The design of this research is descriptive correlation with a cross sectional
approach. The total population in this study was 100 Generation Z people aged 18 - 28
years on social media, sampling using a non-probability sampling method with a
porpusive sampling technique. This research instrument uses a Likert scale questionnaire
for quarter life crisis with validity results (r table 0.145 < a 0.854) and for mental health
uses the MHI – 38 scale questionnaire with validity results (a 0.892) in content validity
index (CVI) calculated as 1, 00 indicates the validity of the instrument is very good.
The results of this study show that the relationship between quarter life crisis and
mental health in the generation aged 18 - 28 years on social media showed that
respondents who had a quarter life crisis were 39.0% low, 38.0% moderate, 12.0% high,
6, 0% is very low, and 5.0% is very high, and respondents who have good mental health
are 83.0% where psychological well-being is high and psychological distress is low, then
respondents who have poor mental health are 17.0% where psychological well-being low
and high psychological distress. Based on the results of the Spearman rank test analysis,
a p value of 0.000 < 0.05 was obtained, the results showed that Ha was accepted and H0
was rejected, meaning that there was a relationship between Quarter Life Crisis and
Mental Health in Generation Z aged 18 - 28 years on social media.
Advice for Generation Z to prioritize mental health and seek help if they have
problems that cause feelings of excessive anxiety, stress and depression. Always think
positively and don't overthink things so you can face various problems.
