Abstract
Background: Electronic nursing documentation is an essential component of
modern nursing care as it serves as legal evidence, a communication tool, and a
basis for evaluating the quality of healthcare services. Nurses’ knowledge is
believed to influence their compliance in documenting nursing care electronically.
This study aims to determine the relationship between nurses’ knowledge of
electronic nursing documentation and their compliance in performing nursing
documentation at Panti Abdi Dharma Hospital, Cirebon.
Methods this was a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design. The population
consisted of all nurses conducting electronic documentation at Panti Abdi Dharma
Hospital (n = 44) using a total sampling technique. Instruments included a
knowledge questionnaire (15 items) and a compliance questionnaire (13 items),
both tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using univariate and
bivariate methods with the Chi-Square test at a significance level of α = 0.05.
Results most respondents had moderate knowledge (70.5%) and moderate
compliance (54.5%). Chi-Square test results showed a significant relationship
between nurses’ knowledge and their compliance in electronic nursing
documentation with p = 0.042 (< 0.05).
Conclusion this study demonstrates that knowledge significantly influences nurses'
compliance with electronic nursing documentation. It is recommended that
hospitals conduct regular training and supervision to improve nurses' knowledge
and compliance with electronic documentation.
