Abstract
Post-operative wounds require special care because they can lead to serious
complications if not properly cared for. Post-operative wound complications are
a major cause of increased length of stay and increased costs for patients in
hospitals. A preliminary study using home care data revealed that 12 patients
(60%) experienced delayed wound healing (>14 days in the proliferation stage).
The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between wound care and
the wound healing process in home care patients at Mitra Plumbon Hospital after
post-abscess wound debridement surgery.
The study used a descriptive correlational design with a cross-sectional
approach. The population in this study was all 68 post-operative debridement
patients undergoing home care during the study period, with a sample size of 40
patients. The results were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses.
The results showed that nearly half (18 patients) received adequate wound
care. Nearly half (17 patients) experienced no inflammation. The bivariate
analysis yielded a p-value of 0.013 (<0.05).
There is a relationship between wound care and wound healing time in
patients with post-abscess wound debridement surgery at Mitra Plumbon
Hospital. Recommendations for healthcare professionals, particularly nurses and
doctors, are crucial to improving the quality and consistency of wound care
delivery in accordance with applicable standard operating procedures.
