Abstract

Adolescents are a vulnerable age group, particularly susceptible to environmental
influences such as advancements in digital technology, including online games. Mobile
Legends, a popular MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) game, is widely played
among Indonesian teenagers. However, excessive use can lead to negative effects, one of
which is increased stress. This study aims to determine the relationship between the level
of addiction to playing Mobile Legends and stress levels among adolescents at SMPN 9
Kota Cirebon.
This research used a descriptive quantitative method with a correlational approach. The
sample consisted of 90 students selected through stratified random sampling. The research
instruments included questionnaires measuring the level of game addiction and stress. Data
were analyzed using the chi-square test.
The results showed that the majority of respondents experienced a moderate level of game
addiction (65 students or 72.2%) and a moderate level of stress (71 students or 78.9%).
The chi-square test indicated a significant relationship between Mobile Legends game
addiction and stress levels among adolescents (p = 0.000; p < 0.05).
The study suggests the importance of time management and digital literacy to prevent the
negative impacts of game addiction. Parental and teacher guidance is also essential in
monitoring adolescents' digital activities.
