CORRELATION BETWEEN DURATION OF HAEMODIALYSIS THERAPY WITH RESTLESS LEGS SYNDROME AT GUNUNG JATI HOSPITAL CIREBON CITY

The number of patients undergoing hemodialysis therapy in the hemodialysis room
of Gunung Jati General Hospital, Cirebon City in 2023 amounted to 153 patients, while
the total average number of chronic renal failure patients undergoing hemodialysis in the
last 3 months in 2023 is 120 patients. This study is to analyze the correlation of duration
of hemodialysis therapy with restless legs syndrome at Gunung Jati General Hospital,
Cirebon City.
The type or research design used is descriptive correlation with a cross-sectional
approach. The population of patients undergoing hemodialysis therapy in the hemodialysis
room of Gunung Jati General Hospital, Cirebon City was 120 patients. The sample size of
92 respondents was taken with purposive sampling technique. The instrument used was a
documentation study record sheet and a questionnaire. The analysis test used in this study
was Spearman's Rank.
The results showed that the length of hemodialysis therapy was 80.4% and
moderate RLS was 44.6%. The results of the spearman rank test obtained p value = 0.000
< α, there is a relationship in this study there is a correlation coefficient of 0.681, meaning
that the relationship is included in the strong and positive direction category.
The longer the duration of hemodialysis therapy obtained, the more severe RLS
will experience. This study can be used as a reference for nurses in monitoring the care of
patients who experience restless legs syndrome while undergoing hemodialysis therapy.
